Help you make decisions

Dear Readers,

Making a decision is the most critical part of any business. The more information that is available, the more informed a decision will be, so naturally, you try to collect as much information as you can. However, there exists a further challenge: when you have collected a large amount of information, you must then select not only the relevant data but also the solutions to enable you to effectively exploit and maximise the potential value from the information.

Experian Decision Analytics faces this challenge every day; we support our clients in connecting to the relevant information sources, and we support them in exploiting this high-quality information as effectively as possible, whilst measuring, analysing and monitoring the value added by each additional data source.

We have developed a growing number of different credit bureaux throughout the world, ranging from consumer bureaux to commercial bureaux, in countries including the United States of America, Italy, Spain, and the UK. Of these, there are several that we have developed in association with other organisations, like the Experian-Interfax credit bureau in Russia, but as a flexible organisation truly dedicated to providing the best solutions to clients in all markets, we can work with any external data source, and we have developed links to over 60 credit bureaux throughout the world.

As we move into the future, our plan is to develop more credit bureaux and also enable you to work with any external data source. More accurate and efficient decisions can be made when there is greater access to multiple data sources, and the ability of our decision analytics solutions to interpret the information is enhanced when the amount of information available is greater.  You can read more about credit bureau scores in this issue’s Expert’s Column.

We, at Experian Decision Analytics, support our customers in making better decisions by getting the best from the data held on the Experian database through our wide range of generic scores.  Even in circumstances when the availability of information is limited, we have developed solutions that enable us to provide valuable services to our clients, whatever their data availability is. Using a data pool approach, we have developed Analytics in Partnership to ‘fill in the gaps’ in information that may occur when decision making is based on limited data, for example, in locations where such information is not yet readily available, or where you have not operated before. Combining pioneering analytics with a service proposition designed to deliver maximum business benefit to our clients, it is a truly innovative approach that demonstrates our expertise in scorecard development.

So, even in the absence or restriction of external information, we have the ability to turn data into intelligence using our sophisticated statistical models and implementation solutions along with our expertise and experience in local markets. In the lending business, wherever and whenever there is a need to assess the value of the information to make a decision, we share our own widespread experience and extensive expertise with our clients.
